Early years and Foundation
Where the stories fit.
The books invite children to talk about identity, wellbeing, communication, friendship and the way words and pictures carry meaning.
They connect most naturally with Early Years Learning Framework Outcomes 1, 3 and 5, and Foundation English work around shared reading, retelling, rhyme and the relationship between images and words.
Educators should use their own professional judgement and current local curriculum documents when planning a programme.

Why Gerry works in a group
He never rushes the answer.
Gerry notices what another character needs and stays nearby while they work it out. The stories show the moment through the characters rather than stopping to explain a lesson.
That gives an educator somewhere useful to begin a conversation without turning the book into a lecture.
