Each One More Story episode is a slow, unhurried read aloud of an original picture book, delivered by a trained performer, followed by a live folk lullaby. Pacing, palette, sound design and caption volume are all designed around the sleep onset window, drawing on published research into fast media and young children's executive function.
The picture books run six to six and a half minutes read aloud. Each follows the same narrative arc, builds in one deliberate breath moment where the pace drops completely, and shows its lesson through character behaviour rather than stating it.
One More Story content aligns most strongly with the following outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework V2.0, Belonging, Being and Becoming.

The Sharing Surprise With a Little Imagination The Slow Hello Listen For It
One More Story is made to be calm first, and that calm tends to fit the language of several fields.
For speech pathology, the books are language rich, with rhyming and repetitive text made for shared reading. For occupational therapy, the slow pacing supports self regulation and co regulation, and the sound and vision are kept calm and sensory friendly. For psychology, the stories work gently on emotional regulation and emotional literacy, showing feelings through what the characters do. For early learning centre directors, they suit settling, rest time and the quiet transitions across a day.
A clear example is The Slow Hello, about a shy little one who is slow to warm up and takes time with new friends, language many of these fields will recognise straight away.
Mr. H performs calm reading and music sessions for libraries, schools and early learning centres across South Australia. Sessions are low stimulation by design and work well with reception, early primary and early years groups. Fees follow the Australian Society of Authors recommended minimums.
